Tax Manager

Purpose of the role:

Tax Manager prepares high-level tax projects and BOSS customers. Works congruently with operations manager and client controllers of Rulien + Associates to ensure all deadlines and projects are filed timely. Ensure all tax preparer maintain projects and supervise deadlines are met. Assist with ensuring customer accounts and projects are prepared with high level of customer service.

  • Hours: Full-time

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Prepare all assigned tax returns
  • Review level 1 tax returns
  • Submit review notes to preparers as reviewing
  • Complete review notes within 2-3 days of receiving back
  • Meeting with operations manager regarding tax department
  • Review of bookkeeping as assigned in “off-season”
  • Assist bookkeeping department with higher level needs (depreciation, sales of assets, mergers, etc)
  • Meeting with BOSS Clients as assigned client manager
  • Tax planning as assigned
  • Advisor to clients as needed
  • Keep up to date on software, technologies, new tax laws, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Experience, Skills & Strengths

  • Office Accounting and customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Ability to write professional emails
  • Good customer service skills
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and BOSS
  • Payroll software and bookkeeping experience required
  • Microsoft Office experience required

Academic, Certifications & Trade Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • College degree in Accounting required
  • QuickBooks® ProAdvisor certification preferred
